Put a nail in the female rap game because it seems the top 3 divas will all be without a record deal real soon.
Eve, who is signed to Interscope records, should be the least surprised by being let go as her singles "Tamborine" and "Give it to You" failed to take off causing her "Here I Am" disc to be shelved indefinately.
Lil Kim released her last album "The Naked Truth" to great reviews but it was a commericial failure. She was supposed to star in another season of her hit BET reality show but conflicts with the network put a stop to that. Kim has been working on her new studio album for two years but lack of public interest and her hard partying ways have delayed the disc. Atlantic Records has finally had enough and will drop Kim in early 2009.
Atlantic Records will also drop Missy next year. Missy is the most surprising of the trio of releases. While her last album "The Cookbook" sold a respectable amount, she has been unable to connect with a first single from her long-delayed new album "Block Party". With the nation in a recession Atlantic doesn't want to risk money on a project or artist they don't believe the public is interested in and will dissolve Missy's contract next year.
Damn!

She only has two scenes in "Doubt" but that's enough for Viola Davis to snag a nomination for Best Supporting Actress. She's a vetern stage actress, but come February she'll be the talk of Hollywood as many industry insiders believe only Penelope Cruz stands in her way for the win in Supporting Actress.
Beyonce is a Golden Globe nominated Actress, but this time she has Oscar on her mind. Her turn as Etta James in "Cadillac Records" looks like she's doing a imitation of Effie White rather than Etta James, but she's in serious consideration for a nomination in Best Supporting Actress.
She already has an Oscar but her performance in "The Secret Life of Bees" is getting Jennifer Hudson a small amount of Oscar buzz. She has a better chance at a Golden Globe nomination based on name recognition and sympathy votes from her family tragedy.
